ANASTASIA MICKLETHWAITE
Flute & Voice
Anastasia enjoys a reputation as an accomplished flautist. She has performed internationally in recital and played with national orchestras, having made her South Bank debut over 40 years ago, on solo piccolo with the National Children's Orchestra, aged 12.
A child prodigy on the flute, she appeared as a finalist on ITV's Fanfare for Young Musicians and was a regional finalist in the BBC's Young Musician of the Year. Anastasia studied at Chetham's School of Music with Janet Alexander and then in London under the tutelage of David Butt, performing with the National Youth Orchestra of GB and gaining her ARCM in Flute Performance whilst studying Music at the University of Cambridge.
Moving to London in 1991 she held principal positions with various London orchestras before moving to New York in 1994. She still enjoys orchestral playing across the North of England and performing in recital when time permits, in-between her busy teaching schedule.
Anastasia plays a vintage 1982 silver closed hole Mateki flute, an early 20th century wooden Rudall Carte flute and a silver and wood Armstrong piccolo.
