Anastasia founded a new community choral group called Sing Joyfully! in 2015. The aims of the group remain the same today, as when it first started:

  • Enjoy singing with other people

  • Learn to sing in a HEALTHY way

  • Improve vocal technique and tone

  • Have FUN!

  • Enable both PERFORMERS and AUDIENCE to experience the JOY of singing

 

Whether you are an experienced choral singer or a complete beginner, whether you can read music or not, Sing Joyfully! is a friendly, welcoming community choir based at the crossroads of Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire.  If you want to have fun, meet lovely people, improve both your vocal sound and technique, boost your confidence and generally feel great, do come and join us.

We meet on Wednesdays in St Mary's Parish Church, Kirkby Lonsdale, singing from 7 - 8:30pm.

We meet weekly during school term time, working towards concerts in December and late May.  Our repertoire is wide and varied, from pop and jazz, to classical, folk and everything in-between, often including arrangements specifically written for the ensemble.

 

Rehearsals are light hearted and we always start with fun warm ups to enable us to improve our singing technique, breath control and blend.  

 

At Christmastime and during the Summer we sing in the Kirkby Lonsdale Festivals, giving concerts in the beautiful and ancient parish church of Saint Mary in the town centre.  We usually team up with our friends in Kirkby Lonsdale Singers for themed concerts, and our songs are selected from seasonal and world music, folk, a cappella, mediaeval, western classical, contemporary, jazz and popular genres and easy listening. 

 

Our Summer themed concerts have been particularly well received and have included Gospel and Jazz, Stage and Screen, The Best of British and An Evening with James Bond.  We are often accompanied by the talented Ian Honeyman on piano and organ, and the wonderful local band, Ruskin's View.

Our aim is for performers and audience alike to have fun and experience the joy that music can bring.
